    Topic: President Beverly Nuchols introduced the newly elected Board Members, gave us a report on the year so far and also presented the revised CECRAOHN Bylaws.

  • May 16, 2006 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    CEU Topic: heard the latest from the well known, Certified Disability Management Specialist and Rehabilitation Counselor, Mary Ciddio. Mary compared the old RU94 process with the new and give us some valuable tools to use as we navigate this complex process in a way that improves our chances for a successful conclusion.

  • March 14, 2006 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    CEU Topic: The Avian Flu Campaign at the County Level--Are We Prepared? Speaker Ira Schwartz, RN, Santa Clara County Health Department enlightened us on how we can be part of the solution. Poster Session: Bev Nuchols, PhD, RN-C, COHN-S will provided information on the Treatment of Burns. The Vendor was Edwards Medical who displayed and spoke on various supplies that they have anticipated we might need in the event of a Pandemic.

    Poster Session: Update on the Tuberculosis Project by Bev Nuchols and Beth Thomas.

    Program: Mobilizing Your Energy During Times of Change.

    Speaker: Mary Garry, R.N. BA, COHN Currently Mary is a partner in Occupational Health Associates.

    Mary reviewed the evolution of OHN practice she has seen during her 40 years in Occupational Health.

    She also discussed the impact of the changing business environment on Occupational Health practice and present us with change management tools to help us maintain flexibility midst the winds of change.

  • The Tuesday, October 12, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    Poster Session: Fran Foote presented on "Reading TB Tests"

    Vendor: Our vendor for the evening was Jim Smith from BayMed

    No longer considered a "man's" issue, heart health is just as much a woman's concern. In fact heart disease is the leading cause of death of American women and kills more women than men. Dr. Jane Lombard talked to us about Women's Health and Heart Disease. Dr. Lombard is a graduate of Stanford University Medical School and is a cardiologist at Camino Medical.

  • The Tuesday, July 13, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    It was the BBQ, held at Connie Conover's house.

    The Guest Speaker and Topic: Annual "Christmas in July" Picnic Support Battered Women's Network: A representative was in attendance to give an update on their organization's outreach program

  • The Tuesday, June 8, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    Poster Session: Sonia Misek presented "International Standards"

    Vendor: Our vendor was Bumgarner & Associates, Inc. specializing in AOE/COE and Subrosa Investigations

    Guest Speaker and Topic: Each year we are privileged to have the president of our state organization speak to us. This year the new CECRAOHN president, Monika Fischer presented the "State of the State" address. Monika spoke about the current state of our state and national organizations and current legislative initiatives that affect our practice.

  • The Tuesday, May 11, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    Poster Session: AAOHN Standards was presented by Lynn Hinds.

    Guest Speaker and Topic: Mike Laughlin, senior partner with the law firm Laughlin, Falbo, Levy and Moresi, discussed the recent IBM cases. Mike is representing IBM in 45 of the workers' compensation claims. He gave us an overview of the litigation, discuss the types of claims and the theory behind the allegations and explain the overlap with the civil cases. Mike also discussed how this litigation affects the computer industry and chip manufacturing in general.

  • The April 13, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    Poster Session: Was presented by Linda Watanabe, RN, BSN; The Poster Session focused on "Keyboard Commands".

    Guest Speaker and Topic: Vivienne Fleischer of Performance Based Ergonomics presented "Typing Without Pain:. After suffering from injuries resulting from improper performance technique as both a concert pianist and a typist, Vivienne began noticing certain movements at the piano with similar faulty and potentially injurious movements at the computer keyboard. Her desire to regain comfort and help other injured performers started Vivienne on the road to developing Performance Based Ergonomics where she is co-founder and President.

  • The March 9, 2004, CECRAOHN MEETING:

    Poster Session: Was presented by Gloria Labrador, RN, COHN. The Poster Session focused on "The Aging Workforce".

    Guest Speaker and Topic: Noma Ladendorff Collins, Ph.D. spoke about current major research and treatment advances in breast cancer. Noma holds a Ph.D. in Immunology and is a Post-doctoral fellow at Stanford University Department of Pathology. Dr. Collins currently works as the Breast Health Education Coordinator for the Community Breast Health Project (CBHP) in Palo Alto, CA. CBHP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information and support to people dealing with breast cancer or breast health issues.

  • The February 10, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    Guest speakers and Topic: Dr. Dan Azar and Dr. Paul Ware of Alliance Occupational Medicine presented a dual approach to repetitive motion injuries. Dr. Azar's talk was from a primary care physician's point of view and Dr. Ware as a physiatrist

  • The January 13, 2004 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    The Poster Session was presented by Marilyn Howard, BSN, RN, COHN-S. Marilyn presentation was about the Alliance between Kaiser and State Fund.

    The guest speaker and topic was Bill Armstrong from the Armstrong Law Firm who discussed and analyzed the significant changes and decisions impacting our Workers Compensation programs in 2004. Bill will also discuss the Governor's proposal.

  • The October 14, 2003 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    The Poster Session was presented by Beth Thomas, MS, RN, NP, COHN-S and Bev Nuchols, Ph.D., RN, NP. Together they provided an update on "TB Prevention Partnership."

    The guest speaker and topic was Patti Glick, RN, known throughout the valley as "The Foot Nurse" presented "My Achin' Feet -- Is it my Feet or my Shoes?"

  • The August 12, 2003 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    The meeting was in conflict with the KTEH Pledge Night, which was worked by members of CECRAOHN; the good folks at KTEH gave logo/title billing to CECRAOHN at 8:36 and 9:39. Connie, Beth, and, Bonnie were shown on TV.

  • The July 8, 2003 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    It was the Summer Picnic BBQ at Connie Conover's House. The focus of the meeting was to have fun and donate to the "Support Network for Battered Women" in Mountain View.

  • The June 10, 2003 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    The Guest speaker was Lori Douglass RN, MS, CFNP, COHN-S. Lori, current CSAOHN President gave us a "State of the State" address, and provided an update on what is happening in the legislative arena that can affect our practice.

  • A Fantastic Saturday CE workshop on April 12, 2003.

    On Saturday, April 12, 2003, 9AM-12NOON Dr. Sunita Jayakar, physiatrist, QME, spoke on the treatment of upper extremity cumulative trauma and Merck Pharmaceuticals will sponsored a brunch!

  • The April 8, 2003 CECRAOHN MEETING:

    At the, Poster Session: Bev Nuchols, PhD, RN, NP presented Processes and Outcomes of a Successful Patient Lift and Transfer Injury Prevention Program Implemented at El Camino Hospital

    The guest speaker and topic was Mary Garry, Workers' Compensation Data Management, Making Sense Out of It.

    Rena Flovin with Alliance Occupational Medicine was the vendor presenting at the meeting. She shared services offered at the clinics and announcing the additional clinic location in Silicon Valley.

    At this meeting, CECRAOHN we acknowledged Mary Garry as she enters into retirement and recognize all she has contributed to Occupational Health and California's Workers' Compensation Program throughout her career.

  • The March CECRAOHN MEETING was held on March 11, 2003.

    At the Poster Session, Bev Nuchols, PhD, RN, NP presented Processes and Outcomes of a Successful Patient Lift and Transfer Injury Prevention Program Implemented at El Camino Hospital.

    The guest speaker and topic was Ealon Joelson, MD, Neurologist, Palo Alto Medical Foundation on Alzheimer's Disease.

  • The February CECRAOHN MEETING was held on February 11, 2003.

    The guest speaker and topic was Captain Wendie Scala RN, USAF, Life Flight Medical Transport Program at Stanford Hospital, Back to our Nursing Roots.

  • The January CECRAOHN MEETING was held on January 14, 2003.

    Guest speaker and Topic: Gary Podesta, MS, PT Shoulder and Elbow examination; from a PT's perspective.

  • The November CECRAOHN MEETING was held on November 12, 2002.

    There was installation of new officers and a report on planned activities and the financial status of CECRAOHN.

    There was a presentation on how to write Occ Health procedures that meet ISO requirements given by Caren McNally. The Microsoft PowerPoint® slides Caren presented are available online.

  • The October CECRAOHN MEETING was held on October 8, 2002.

    Mary Garry, Business Risk Manager, Global Risk Management, Hewlett Packard, addressed the group on the recent Worker's Comp changes and associated legislative areas that will affect our practice area.

    Catherine Ayers further expand on this subject presenting a poster session that addressed a Worker's Comp process that has become extremely important because of various recent legislative changes.

  • The July CECRAOHN MEETING was held on July 9, 2002, and was the Summer Picnic BBQ.

    The vendor representative was David Lewis with Cornerstone Fitness. Cornerstone Fitness is committed to providing business and industry with exceptional health and fitness services. Keeping people fit, healthy, and productive is their business. Their operating philosophy is simple:

    We work in partnership with the companies and people we serve to deliver customized programs and services at the highest level of quality and dedication, which manifests our commitment to client satisfaction.

    The focus of the meeting was to have fun and support the Battered Women's Shelter in Mountain View. Donations of personal articles were brought to the meeting and given to the Battered Network. Monetary donations were made out to CECRAOHN. CECRAOHN forwarded donations in one lump sum to gain recognition as a outreach support to the community.

  • The June CECRAOHN MEETING was held on Tuesday, June 11, 2002.

    The Speaker was Lori Douglass, CECRAOHN President speaking on the "State of the State". She brought us up to date on the California State Association of Occupational Health Nurses and important issues for the upcoming year. She has graciously given permission to post the slides used in her presentation online.

    The Poster Session was given by Carolyn Speers on her recent visit to Ethiopia in support of the efforts being made in the health arena.

    Gary Podesta from Health Fitness Physical Therapy was the vendor.

  • The May CECRAOHN MEETING was held on Tuesday, May 14, 2002. Poster session began at 6:00 PM, Main meeting began at 6:30 PM.

    The main speaker was Steven Rubinstein, MD, allergist from the Camino Medical Group speaking about latex allergy.

    The poster session was presented by Beth Thomas demonstrating the Monopoly game board she devised to be utilized in HR and manager training session based on FMLA, ADA, disability and worker's comp.

    The vendor was Pete Davie from AtWork Resources, Inc. (AWR) located in Belmont CA, presenting the AtWork Manager®, a web-based application for the management of injuries and illnesses and absence in the workplace, focusing on the return to work process.

  • The April 9, 2002 CECRAOHN MEETING was held at 6:00PM.

    Speaker: Lynda Zimmer from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department
    Title: TB Exposure in the Workplace
  • The March 12th, 2002 CECRAOHN MEETING was held at 6:30 PM.

    Speaker: Jed Black, MD, Medical Director of Stanford Sleep Disorder Center.

  • For the CECRAOHN COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM, the BOD asked for volunteers for the KTEH Pledge Drive, Wednesday, March 6, 6:15 PM to 11:00 PM. Food was provided, and a wonderful time was had by all-the location of KTEH is 1585 Schallenberger Road, San Jose, CA 95131. A map to KTEH is provided by Mapblast, which also, offers directions.

  • The February 12th, 2002 CECRAOHN MEETING was held at 6:30 PM.

    Speaker: Bill Armstrong
    Title: "Laws Affecting California Worker's Comp and Disability Case Management."

    Vendor: Janice Bremis from Health Trust.

  • The January 8th, 2002 CECRAOHN MEETING was held at 6:30 PM.

    The speaker for this meeting was Joni Vogel, U.S. Labor and Employment Counselor for Agilent Technologies speaking about the recent decision to come out of the 9th District Circuit Court which changes the way disabilities are addressed in the workplace. This was an excellent presentation for the Human Resources community.

    Lynn Hinds presented the poster session on Government Affairs and how much we can really influence our lawmakers. (More good information for HR).

  • El Camino Real Association of Occupational Health Nurses October CECRAOHN MEETING, Tuesday, November 13th, 2001, 6 PM.

    This meeting was the annual installation of officers which include a new president and secretary.
